Electronics Industry in Singapore, Industry Structure and Production Data

Electronics remains one of the most important sectors of Singapore’s manufacturing industry accounting for an estimated 27.2% of overall manufacturing output in 2014, down from 27.9% a year earlier. A recovery in the key semiconductor segment in 2013 was a key factor in electronics output increasing by 4.0% for the year as a whole. Electronics output is expected to show modest growth of 1.3% in 2014 and by a further 1.5% in 2015. Semiconductors accounted for 57% of electronics output in 2014, production increasing by 2.1% this following growth of 7.8% in the prior year. In 2015, production is expected to increase by 2.3%. Singapore has a well-established semiconductor industry encompassing wafer fabrication, including the top three foundries globally, assembly and test and a growing number of fabless IC design companies.
