New research estimates that over $35 billion of 2013 worldwide semiconductor revenue was contributed to sales of products used in this high volume application.  In 2013 close to a billion smartphones were shipped worldwide and this market is expected to continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 19 percent over the next five years.
