This IDC study discusses IDC"s Worldwide Semiconductor Applications Forecaster"s (SAF"s) estimates on the worldwide semiconductor revenue growth. Worldwide semiconductor revenue grew 8.3% in 2013, reaching $325 billion. The SAF forecasts that semiconductor revenue will grow 3.6% in 2014 to $336 billion and log a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.4% from 2013 to 2018, reaching $384 billion in 2018. "For 2014, IDC forecasts more moderate growth as the DRAM and NAND markets stabilize. In addition, IDC believes that the consumer, mobile phone, and automotive markets will be bright spots for 2014," said Nina Turner, research manager, IDC’s Enabling Technologies and Semiconductors.
